Artist bio
Julia Taroni is a life long artist. She is always creating new works in different mediums. Alongside glass these include mixed media, fibre/yarn and found objects.
After working in the civil service for several years then raising her family Julia decided not to return to the 9-5 office environment and pursue her dreams of becoming a full time artist instead.
Initially she began with creating a small company designing and producing handcrafted greetings cards and wedding stationery, and taught knitting and crochet to private students.
Julia came across the art of stained glass through her childhood friend, and after her friend's passing from breast cancer in 2016 decided it was the art form she wanted to follow having fallen in love with it and in memory of her friend.
Having learned the basics through a very short night-school course Julia rapidly honed her skills and set up a business selling her creations through Etsy and gained a global following. She regularly exhibits with Peterborough Artist Open Studios and has had work exhibited in the "Made in 2022" exhibition hosted at Peterborough Cathedral.
She teaches beginner's stained glass workshops on a regular basis and loves introducing her passion for glass to others.
Julia lives in Peterborough, UK, with her husband and rescue dog Violet.
Julia treasures the natural world and it often forms the inspiration for new projects.
